CALL TO SUPPORT HISTORIC LANDMARK STATUS FOR GRUMBLE’S HOME!

Please support the “historic landmark” status for the home of 1st San Antonio Branch NAACP President, Mr. John A. Grumbles

On the Council’s agenda for September 16th, there is a recommendation from the City’s Historic and Design Review Commission (HDRC) that the residence at 1115 Wyoming Street be given “Historic Landmark” status.  The Executive Committee of the San Antonio Branch NAACP supports the recommendation of the HDRC.

The home was the residence of the late Mr. John Grumbles, a retired railway postal clerk, who made several generous contributions to the San Antonio community by initiating, being a charter member of, and becoming the first president of the San Antonio Branch NAACP–chartered in 1918.
