January 14-Saturday:  34th Annual Martin Luther King Scholarship Breakfast, sponsored by Delta Rho Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, at the Embassy Suites Landmark Hotel, 5615 Landmark Parkway, at 9:00 AM.  Speaker:  Dr. R. January 14-Saturday:  Youth Empowerment Event, at the Espee, 1174 East Commerce St at 3:00 pm.

 

January 15-Sunday:  Wreath Laying Ceremony at the statue of Dr. King at the intersection of East Houston Street and New Braunfels Avenue at 2:00 pm.

 

January 15-Sunday:  Inter-Faith Worship Service at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church, 1523 Iowa St at 4:30 pm

 

January 16-Monday:  Pre-March Worship Service at 3501 Martin Luther King Drive, 9:00 am

 

January 16-Monday:  Memorial Dr. Martin Luther King March, begins at 3501 Martin Luther King Drive at 10:00 a.m.  Marchers are welcome to participate as individuals or as members of a group

 

January 16-Monday:  Commemorative Program and Public Awards Ceremony at Pittman-Sullivan Park, 1101 Iowa Street at 12:00 pm (Limited seating—lawn chairs recommended)

 

January 19-Thursday:  Lecture at Trinity University’s Laurie Auditorium.  Guest speaker-Caitlin Dickerson, award-winning investigative reporter, at 7:00 pm
