The San Antonio Branch NAACP was recognized at the National Convention that was held July 26 – August 1, 2023 for 4 main reasons!

– The Branch was recognized as one of the Units of the NAACP that turned 100 years old between 2018-2023. These Units are being recognized with a Centennial Award. Each Centennial Award Unit’s name will be placed on the NAACP 100 Perennial Plaque housed in the Corporate Office. The Branch will also receive a NAACP Charter to commemorate this important milestone.

– The Branch qualified for the NAACP Club 100 Award for selling 100 memberships between May 1, 2022 and May 31, 2023. This hard work is how the NAACP continues its legacy. Because the San Antonio Branch achieved this membership goal, the Branch qualified to win three other membership awards: Ella Jo Baker, Lucille Black, and Impact Award.

– The Branch won the President’s Circle Award for selling $5,000 in memberships between May 1, 2022 and May 31, 2023. The award celebrates the hard work, commitment, and sacrifice to the cause of the NAACP. Because the San Antonio Branch won the President’s Circle Award, it was a nominee for the Ella Jo Baker, Lucille Black, and Impact Award.

– Finally, the San Antonio Branch was a recipient of the 2023 NAACP Thalheimer Award. This prestigious award recognizes NAACP State and State Area Conferences and Branches for outstanding work in the implementation of the Association’s strategic priorities and goals mandated by the National Board of Directors. The San Antonio Branch’s recognition was due to the hard work of three Committees: Ms. Beverly Johnson, Chair, Criminal Justice Committee; Dr. Patsy Newborn, Chair, Education Committee, and Mrs. Keely Collier Chair, Political Action Committee. The Branch has the plaque on display at the Branch Office, located at 2803 East Commerce Street.
