EDUCATION

March 24th (Sunday) at 3:30 PM.  “Chisholm’72:  Unbought & Unbossed” documentary movie about Congresswoman Shiley Chisholm’s 1972 presidential campaign.  Presented by the SABIFF (San Antonio Black International Film Festival) at the Carver Branch Public Library, 3350 E. Commerce St.  The event is free but donations are welcome.

 

April 5 (Friday) at 7 PM (Doors open at 6:30 PM).  “The African Contributions to Civilization from Africa to America.” Lecture by historian Anthony Browder.  Carver Community Cultural Center, 226 N. Hackberry St.  Sponsored by SABIFF, the Carver Cultural Center and the Carver Library.  The event is free but donations are welcome.  Sponsorship levels are available which include VIP seating, private reception to meet with the author.

 

April 6 (Saturday) at 12 Noon.  Global Assignment:  The Life and Times of Dr. Runoko Rashidi, historian.  In person Q & A featuring Anthony Browder.  Sponsored by SABIFF in partnership with Melaneyesmedia and The Carver Library, 3350 E. Commerce St.  The event is free but donations are welcome.

Stop the Bleed Training sponsored by University Health System, Thursday, March 14th 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Bibliotech East Library, 1203 North Walters St.  Free training to help people learn how to prevent deaths from traumatic bleeding during events such as a car crash, fall from a ladder, or a kitchen mishap.  Register on line:
