RE: Record Expungement
Greetings:
We are delighted to inform you that the Criminal Justice Committee of the NAACP (San Antonio Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People), together with the Texas Legal Services Center and several other groups have decided to be proactive as it relates to Expungement of Criminal Records.  We are cognizant of the fact that there are organizations in the state of Texas that are equipped to assist felons after they have completed their probation; however, the process is slow and many individuals are hindered by limited resources and a lack of funds.  Financial aid is not easy to come by because there are so many men and women whose livelihoods and general well being are hindered on a daily basis.  This is why we feel compelled to hasten the process by “Giving a helping hand “to Felons that are already striving to regain/restore their full citizenship.  We will be working closely with judges, attorneys, legal agencies, and a number of Advanced Law Students from a local university.
As a felon, the candidate would be required to complete several forms for screening purposes.
The candidates will be seen by appointment only. Please contact the San Antonio Branch NAACP Office at (210) 224-7636. Thank you.
