– President's Biography –


Dr. Gregory Hudspeth is currently an Associate Professor of Political Science at St. Philip’s College in San Antonio, Texas. He earned his BA in Government from Huston-Tillotson College in Austin, Texas, his MA in Political Science from St. Mary’s University, and his Ph.D. in Leadership Studies from Our Lady of the Lake University.

Dr. Hudspeth joined the faculty of St. Philip’s as an adjunct professor in 1975 and became a full-time instructor in 1978. He became chair of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department in 1992 and the Dean of Arts and Sciences in 2002. While serving as Dean, he continued to teach at St. Philip’s and Our Lady of the Lake University. In 2008, he returned to his first love, full-time teaching.

He is very active in the San Antonio Community.  He served as the Interim Chair of the Bexar County Democratic Party.  In addition, he currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Voices for Children of San Antonio, a child advocacy agency and has served as the President of the Board of Directors of Any Baby Can, an agency that addresses issues facing families with children who have disabilities.  He is a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and a Gold Life Member of the NAACP.

The NAACP is in the DNA of Gregory Hudspeth as his father, Charles Hudspeth, Jr. , served as the President of the NAACP in the 1970’s and 1980’s. His parents, Charles and Louise, served as the chairs of the Freedom Fund Dinner. Gregory and Dollie also served as the chairs of the Freedom Fund Dinner in 2013 and 2014. Gregory is the immediate past chair of the Housing Committee, and in November, 2018, he was elected as President of the local Branch of the NAACP.

Gregory is married to Elizabeth Dollie Hudspeth. They have two sons, Gregory, Jr. and Brandon. They are the proud grandparents of Mia Alejandra, Noah Allen, and Victoria Elizabeth Hudspeth.
